 LID publica la biografía de José Fernández López.

Madrid, 2 de septiembre de 2025. LID Editorial acaba de publicar José Fernández López, la biografía del fundador de Zeltia, Transfesa y Pescanova, el empresario gallego que transformó la industria española con su audacia y espíritu innovador.

Sin miedo al riesgo, José Fernández López apostó en solitario por dos mataderos industriales en quiebra durante la República, en Mérida y Porriño. Fundó junto a sus hermanos el laboratorio químico, Zeltia, al inicio de la posguerra, y dio cobijo a científicos represaliados durante la dictadura. Creó la primera multinacional de transportes especiales ferroviarios, Transfesa, y patentó un sistema de cambios de vías para unir por tren España con el continente europeo en el paso de los Pirineos.

Además, se asoció con cinco laboratorios bajo la marca Antibióticos, en León. También revolucionó la pesca con la primera flota de congeladores de Europa, que surcó los mares bajo la bandera de Pescanova, y promovió el desarrollo industrial con proyectos estratégicos como la extracción de titanio y litio. Su legado va más allá de los negocios: su papel como mecenas cultural y su compromiso con Galicia marcaron una diferencia en la historia del país.

Toda su trayectoria empresarial queda reflejada en José Fernández López. Un empresario sin miedo al riesgo. La obra, escrita por Marisa Gallero y galardonada con el XXI Premio LID de Biografía Empresarial, rescata la figura de un empresario discreto pero influyente, cuyo impacto aún perdura.

La autora

Marisa Gallero ,ejerce como periodista desde que terminó sus estudios en la Facultad de Ciencias de la Información de la Universidad Complutense (1993), tanto en distintos medios escritos y audiovisuales como en diferentes gabinetes de comunicación. Sus primeros pasos periodísticos fueron en el Diario de Cádiz y en la agencia EFE . Fue jefa de prensa de la discográfica Warner Music, jefa de comunicación de los canales temáticos de Sogecable (Grupo Prisa) y directora de comunicación de Madrid Destino (Cultura, Turismo y Negocio), entre 2019 y 2023. En televisión, fue productora ejecutiva de Las Mañanas de Cuatro , en la etapa de Concha García Campoy, y directora del espacio de Cuatro entre 2011 y 2013.
También dirigió los programas de televisión A tu lado (Telecinco) y Te vas a enterar (Cuatro), y colaboró en programas de actualidad de La Sexta. A su vez, escribió en la revista Interviú y en el diario ABC la sección de entrevistas políticas «Conversaciones con causa», además de reportajes de investigación, desde 2014 hasta el 2019, y en la actualidad en El Debate . En el sector editorial, realizó el máster universitario en Edición del Grupo Santillana y publicó Bárcenas. La caja fuerte en La Esfera de los Libros.
