Las empresas españolas dedican más de 10 horas semanales a perseguir pagos atrasados.
De acuerdo con la nueva edición del Informe Europeo de Pagos de Intrum, España es uno de los cinco países europeos cuyas empresas más tiempo dedican a este fin, junto a Suiza, Eslovaquia, Países Bajos y Austria.
A la hora de reclamar facturas, el 64% de los impagos se gestiona de forma interna, un 28% se cobra mediante empresas especializadas en recobro, y el 8% se canaliza a través de operaciones de factoring (venta de la deuda).
Las empresas españolas dedican, de media, más de 10 horas semanales a perseguir pagos atrasados de sus clientes. Así lo refleja la nueva edición del Informe Europeo de Pagos de Intrum 2025, que analiza la salud financiera y el comportamiento y tendencias de pago de las empresas de 25 países de Europa.
En concreto, las compañías de nuestro país emplean 10,12 horas a la semana a esta tarea, es decir, 10 horas y 7 minutos de media, lo que sitúa a España en el quinto lugar del ranking europeo, solo por detrás de Suiza (10,73 h), Eslovaquia (10,53 h), Países Bajos (10,44 h) y Austria (10,23 h). En el extremo opuesto se encuentran países como Bulgaria (8,68 h), Serbia (9,29 h) o Croacia (9,42 h). Otros mercados clave como Alemania (9,91 h), Francia (9,58 h), Reino Unido (9,56 h), Portugal (9,89 h) e Italia (9,87 h) también están por debajo del promedio español.
A pesar de estas cifras, el tiempo medio dedicado a perseguir impagos en España ha disminuido progresivamente en los últimos años, ya que en 2023 era de 11,31 horas y en 2024 bajó a 10,61, lo que evidencia una mejora en la eficiencia o una menor carga de impagos, aunque sigue suponiendo un coste importante para las empresas en términos de tiempo y recursos.

A la hora de recuperar los pagos atrasados, las empresas siguen confiando mayoritariamente en sus propios equipos. De acuerdo con el del Informe Europeo de Pagos, 2 de cada 3 impagos (64%) siguen gestionándose de forma interna.
No obstante, las compañías cada día son más conscientes de la necesidad de contar con el apoyo de entidades especializadas. Según los datos de Intrum , cuando se pregunta a las empresas españolas cómo esperan distribuir la gestión de los pagos atrasados en los próximos dos años, las previsiones apuntan a una progresiva externalización del proceso. En concreto, recurrir a compañías especializadas crecerá del 28% al 32%.
Este desplazamiento sugiere una doble tendencia: por un lado, una mayor profesionalización de la gestión del riesgo de crédito, y por otro, una búsqueda de mayor agilidad y eficiencia en la recuperación de deuda, especialmente en un contexto de creciente complejidad de los entornos económicos, endurecimiento de los plazos de pago y presión sobre la liquidez, donde el tiempo es un factor crítico para la salud financiera empresarial. Además, delegar parte del recobro permite a muchas compañías liberar recursos internos, centrarse en su actividad principal y crecimiento, y reducir tensiones en la relación comercial con los clientes, al dejar en manos de un tercero una fase delicada del proceso de pago.
