El consejero delegado de una de las mayores energéticas del mercado español recibe el histórico galardón otorgado por Actualidad Económica / EL MUNDO y reivindica el «valor social» del empresario frente a los populismos.

 Josu Jon Imaz (Zumárraga, 1963),consejero delegado de Repsol, ha recibido este miércoles el Premio Mejor Empresario del Año 2024, un galardón histórico que concede la revista Actualidad Económica. En su discurso, el ejecutivo se ha posicionado con la rotundidad que le define sobre muchos de los temas que hoy marcan la agenda política y ha instado a apostar por un modelo de país ambicioso que permita a los jóvenes desarrollar en su propia tierra «su proyecto de vida». «Yo no quiero un país en el que el debate sea el del salario mínimo interprofesional o el de la ayuda social, que son, por supuesto, herramientas absolutamente necesarias para las personas que tienen menos recursos y lo están pasando peor. Pero yo quiero un país en el que los jóvenes puedan aspirar a salarios muy superiores, un país con seguridad jurídica, regulatoria, social y fiscal«.

Imaz, que este año cumple una década al frente de Repsol,ha defendido la figura del empresario como piedra angular de la economía y «la receta necesaria para construir un país moderno, socialmente equilibrado e innovador». «Necesitamos reconocer el valor social del empresario. Los empresarios no pueden ser el pimpampum del populismo, ni pueden ser la diana de los populistas, porque los empresarios que invierten, son los que arriesgan son los que innovan y son los que crean empleos de calidad», ha enfatizado el galardonado ante un auditorio que ha congregado a algunos de los mayores referentes del mundo corporativo nacional.

El empresario también ha aprovechado para romper una lanza a favor de la industria que es «la que crea empleos en sociedades avanzadas, de calidad y bien pagados». Se trata de un mensaje que el ejecutivo ha repetido con especial fervor en los últimos años, en los que el CEO ha insistido ante interlocutores del más alto nivel político que Europa debe incluir a la gran industria en su ecuación climática. También este miércoles, Imaz ha ensalzado la actividad industrial como el germen de la innovación y la competitividad nacional. «La industria es la que tira y desarrolla la tecnología. La industria es la que nos ayuda a competir en un mundo abierto y es la que nos permite tener una sociedad que pueda dar a los jóvenes formados oportunidades para desarrollar un proyecto de vida», ha reivindicado.
