Francisco Reynés y Maite Barrera entran en la Fundación La Caixa.
Este jueves, por unanimidad, el patronato de la entidad presidida por Isidro Fainé ha aprobado el nombramiento de dos nuevos patronos por un periodo inicial de cuatro años. Se trata de Maite Barrera, fundadora y consejera delegada de la consultora Bluecap y expresidenta de Barcelona Global, y de Francisco Reynés, presidente y consejero delegado de Naturgy.
Cubren las vacantes que dejaron en el patronato el notario Juan José López Burniol, que dimitió del cargo de vicepresidente el pasado mes de diciembre, y el diplomático e historiador israelí Shlomo Ben Ami, que, estatutariamente, no podía renovar como patrono por haber agotado el número máximo de mandatos.
En la reunión de este jueves, también ha acordado renovar como patronos de la entidad a Marc Murtra, nuevo presidente de Telefónica, y al presidente de honor de BPI, Artur Santos.
En febrero, La Caixa ya había nombrado a Javier Godó como nuevo vicepresidente de la entidad en sustitución de López Burniol, que dejó la institución a finales de 2024 por discrepancias.
Cualquier novedad en el patronato de la Fundación La Caixa tiene una gran relevancia, no solo por tratarse del máximo órgano de gobierno de una entidad que controla un patrimonio superior a los 30.000 millones de euros, sino porque cualquier cambio puede leerse en clave sucesoria, ya que, hoy por hoy, no está claro quién sustituirá a Fainé en la presidencia cuando decida o le toque dejar el cargo.
La incorporación del presidente de Naturgy al máximo órgano de poder de La Caixa se produce después de su reciente salida del consejo de administración del grupo francés Veolia, donde era consejero independiente desde 2023. Reynés dejó Veolia después de que La Caixa anunciara la compra del 5% de la multinacional gala, una operación valorada en mil millones de euros y que se efectuó a través del hólding CriteriaCaixa. Para representar sus intereses en el consejo de Veolia, Criteria ha propuesto a la exministra Elena Salgado, cuyo nombramiento como consejera debe ser ratificado en la junta general de accionistas prevista para el próximo 24 de abril.
La renovación del patronato de La Caixa se produce escasamente un mes después de que la entidad acordara el retorno de su sede social a Catalunya, siete años después de su traslado a Palma de Mallorca.
