EL 64,1 % DE LOS EMPLEADOS ESPAÑOLES ADMITE QUE SUS HÁBITOS ALIMENTARIOS INFLUYEN DE MANERA DIRECTA EN LA CALIDAD DE SU SUEÑO.

·         Pese a que un 44,1% considera que una alimentación equilibrada mejora su sueño, persisten hábitos poco saludables que repercuten negativamente en la energía durante la jornada laboral y dificultan su conciliación.

·         El impacto de la mala alimentación sobre el descanso es más acusado entre los empleados de 25 a 34 años (25,5%), lo que pone de relieve la importancia de promover hábitos saludables desde edades tempranas.

·         Descansar lo suficiente también influye en la regulación del apetito, el equilibrio hormonal, la concentración y la productividad durante el día, mostrando que el sueño y la alimentación están estrechamente interconectados y deben cuidarse de manera conjunta.

Madrid, 10 de octubre de 2025. La relación entre alimentación y sueño se ha consolidado como uno de los pilares más relevantes para la salud integral y el bienestar cotidiano. Según el estudio «Hábitos alimentarios en el entorno laboral» , elaborado por CignaHealthcare España, un 64,1% de los trabajadores declara que sus hábitos alimenticios tienen un efecto directo en la calidad de su descanso y es que, tal y como revela el estudio, rutinas poco saludables influyen en la productividad y la concentración durante la jornada laboral. Se trata de un factor que impacta directamente en el rendimiento cognitivo, el estado de ánimo y el bienestar general.

Pese a que un 44,1% considera que una alimentación equilibrada mejora su descanso nocturno, persisten hábitos poco saludables que repercuten negativamente en la energía diaria y dificultan la conciliación del sueño. Los datos indican que cuando la dieta es deficiente, un 20% de los empleados reconoce un impacto negativo directo en su calidad de sueño.

Asimismo, dormir poco o con mala calidad tiene consecuencias tangibles y palpables, y el insomnio se perfila como un problema de salud creciente que, mantenido en el tiempo, puede tener repercusiones significativas en el bienestar general. Para la Dra. Daniela Silva, especialista en Medicina Interna y E-Health Medical Manager de CignaHealthcare España “la alimentación no solo influye en cómo nos sentimos durante el día, también condiciona la calidad del descanso. A su vez, dormir bien nos permite planificar una dieta saludable a conciencia y ayuda a mantener íntegras las señales de hambre y saciedad reduciendo la necesidad de consumir alimentos hipercalóricos. También nos ayuda a establecer calendarios alimentarios a medio y largo plazo. Este círculo virtuoso demuestra que cuidar de ambos pilares es fundamental para preservar la salud y el bienestar a largo plazo”.

El estudio también ha detectado que, por edad, el impacto de la mala alimentación sobre el descanso es más acusado entre los empleados de 25 a 34 años, lo que pone de relieve la importancia de promover hábitos saludables desde edades tempranas. En este intervalo hasta un 25,5% admite que cuando practica una mala alimentación, afecta negativamente a su descanso.

Con el objetivo de favorecer un descanso reparador, los expertos de CignaHealthcare  recuerdan algunas claves que pueden marcar la diferencia:

  • Introduce nutrientes clave que puedan mejorar la calidad del descanso, como los ricos en triptófano. Seguir un patrón de dieta mediterránea, basado en frutas, verduras, legumbres, cereales integrales, pescado azul y aceite de oliva, y con un consumo reducido de carnes rojas y alcohol, se ha asociado con un mejor descanso. Además, incluir en la cena alimentos ricos en triptófano y vitamina B6, como pueden ser el pavo, los huevos, los lácteos, el plátano o la avena, favorece la producción de serotonina y melatonina, hormonas esenciales para regular el ciclo del sueño.
  • Duerme regularmente 8 horas para mejorar tu salud metabólica y cardiovascular. Dormir lo suficiente se asocia con un peso corporal más saludable y una menor incidencia de enfermedades relacionadas con el estilo de vida. El sueño de calidad contribuye a la regulación hormonal del apetito y del metabolismo, evitando la ingesta excesiva de calorías y favoreciendo el control de peso. Además, puede mejorar la función cardiovascular, la sensibilidad a la insulina y la recuperación muscular.
  • Reduce el consumo de estimulantes en la segunda parte del día y potencia ejercicios de meditación. Limitar la ingesta de cafeína, nicotina y alcohol desde la tarde resulta clave para no interferir en las fases profundas del sueño. Aunque el alcohol pueda inducir somnolencia en un primer momento, interrumpe el descanso durante la noche. Además, la práctica de ejercicios de relajación como la meditación o el yoga en un espacio confortable del hogar facilita la inducción del sueño.
  • Adapta los horarios de comida a los ritmos circadianos. Cenar dos o tres horas antes de dormir, optando por platos ligeros y fáciles de digerir, facilita la conciliación y previene despertares nocturnos. Por el contrario, las cenas copiosas o muy grasas pueden alterar la calidad del sueño.
  • Mantén rutinas deportivas cotidianas.  Ayuda a regular el ritmo circadiano, reduce el estrés y la ansiedad al disminuir el cortisol y aumentar las endorfinas, lo que favorece un sueño más profundo y reparador y mejora el estado de ánimo.
  • Desconecta digitalmente. La exposición a pantallas (móviles, tabletas, ordenadores o televisores) emite luz azul, que inhibe la producción de melatonina, la hormona que regula el descanso, además de mantener el cerebro en estado de alerta por la estimulación constante de notificaciones. Realizar una desconexión tecnológica, al menos una hora antes de meterse en la cama, favorece la relajación y reduce el estrés, lo que ayuda a conciliar antes el sueño.
