UNESID destaca la importancia de la información para el impulso de la industria siderúrgica durante la entrega de su V Premio de Periodismo.

La ganadora, María José Pérez Barco, ha destacado que “España cuenta con potencialidad para liderar la producción de acero sostenible en Europa”.

El acto ha contado con la participación de representantes de la Asociación de la Prensa de Madrid (APM) y de la Federación de Asociaciones de Periodistas de España (FAPE).

Madrid, 30 de abril de 2025 – La Unión de Empresas Siderúrgicas, UNESID y la Fundación UNESID han celebrado hoy en la sede de CEOE el acto de entrega de la quinta edición del Premio de Periodismo UNESID, una iniciativa que reconoce el trabajo informativo y divulgativo sobre la industria siderúrgica española, clave en la transformación sostenible de la economía.
Durante la bienvenida a los asistentes, Bernardo Velázquez, presidente de UNESID, ha afirmado que “el sector siderúrgico español está hoy en el centro de la transformación industrial de Europa.
Y lo está con ambición, con visión a largo plazo, y con la voluntad de seguir siendo un motor económico, social y medioambiental para nuestro país. Pero este esfuerzo, este compromiso, necesita ser contado. Y contado bien. Necesita de voces expertas, de periodistas que vayan más allá del dato aislado o del titular llamativo”.
Por su parte, Carola Hermoso, directora general de UNESID, ha querido subrayar la importancia de esta convocatoria señalando que “el buen periodismo, riguroso y comprometido, es también un aliado del desarrollo industrial, de la transparencia y del entendimiento mutuo entre sectores y sociedad. En UNESID somos conscientes de que, detrás de cada reportaje, hay muchas horas de trabajo y muchas ganas de querer contar bien la realidad y por eso es importante premiarlo”.
En esta quinta edición, el primer premio ha sido entregado a María José Pérez Barco, periodista de Diario ABC, por su artículo “España parte con ventaja en la carrera para forjar el acero verde”, una pieza que pone el foco en los avances tecnológicos y medioambientales de la industria del acero en España, destacando su liderazgo en la transición hacia una producción baja en emisiones. La periodista ha agradecido el galardón y ha señalado que: “nos fijamos en la industria siderúrgica porque es un sector estratégico y un pilar fundamental para el desarrollo económico de un país, fabricando un material imprescindible que podemos encontrar en muchos objetos que utilizamos día a día. Dar voz a la industria española es algo necesario, porque España cuenta con potencialidad para liderar la producción de acero sostenible en Europa”
El accésit ha recaído en Javier Cabedo Figueredo, creador del pódcast News To You (NTY), por el episodio “El papel estratégico de la industria siderúrgica española”, donde analiza el impacto y la relevancia de este sector en el desarrollo económico y medioambiental del país. Cabedo ha afirmado que “es un honor recibir este reconocimiento por un trabajo que busca acercar al público la importancia estratégica de la industria siderúrgica española, no solo como motor económico, sino también como ejemplo de sostenibilidad y compromiso con la economía circular.”

El jurado del premio, asistente también a este acto, ha estado compuesto por profesionales de la comunicación, la administración y la industria siderúrgica, quienes han valorado la rigurosidad, la innovación y la capacidad de los trabajos seleccionados para sensibilizar al público sobre el
papel clave del sector.
UNESID agradece la participación de todos los periodistas que han presentado sus candidaturas
y reafirma su compromiso con una comunicación de calidad que contribuya a poner en valor una
industria que emplea a más de 60.000 personas en España.
El acto ha contado con la colaboración de CEOE, que ha acogido la ceremonia de entrega en
sus instalaciones, simbolizando así el valor de la cooperación entre sectores estratégicos y el
mundo empresarial. Asimismo, la jornada ha contado con la participación de representantes de
la Asociación de la Prensa de Madrid (APM) y de la Federación de Asociaciones de Periodistas
de España (FAPE).
