· Según el Ministerio de Educación, Formación Profesional y Deportes, en 2024 se matricularon 1.193.260 estudiantes en ciclos de Formación Profesional (FP), lo que representa 48.460 alumnos más que en el curso anterior y supone un incremento del 4,2%.
· Asimismo, en 2024 se contabilizaron 1.762.459 estudiantes en las universidades españolas, frente a los 1.720.975 del curso pasado, lo cual indica un aumento de más de 41.000 alumnos y el mayor número de matriculados en la historia del Sistema Universitario Español.
. El sector sanitario necesita profesionales con perfiles diversos y formaciones complementarias. La Formación Profesional y los estudios universitarios no son caminos enfrentados, sino itinerarios distintos que se combinan para responder a las necesidades asistenciales, técnicas y de investigación de la sociedad.

“La formación sanitaria es hoy más diversa que nunca. La FP aporta perfiles técnicos especializados que refuerzan la atención directa a los pacientes y permiten una incorporación rápida al mercado laboral. La universidad, por su parte, forma profesionales con recorridos académicos más largos, orientados a la clínica, la enfermería, la odontología o la investigación. Ambos caminos se necesitan y se complementan para garantizar un sistema sanitario sólido y preparado para el futuro”, señala Elena Juárez, Chief People officer de Sanitas y BupaEurope & LatinAmerica.
Con este enfoque, Sanitas plantea una serie de recomendaciones para orientar a quienes estén decidiendo su futuro académico:
Definir motivaciones y expectativas: quienes deseen incorporarse pronto al ámbito laboral pueden optar por la FP sanitaria, mientras que aquellos que busquen carreras de mayor recorrido académico encontrarán en la universidad su espacio. Cabe mencionar que ambas opciones pueden ser sucesivas y complementarias, ya que una titulación de FP puede abrir puertas a estudios universitarios posteriores.
Identificar el estilo de aprendizaje y práctica más afín: la FP prioriza la aplicación práctica desde el inicio y fomenta el trabajo colaborativo; y la universidad aporta una base científica y clínica más profunda. Los dos modelos, al complementarse, permiten formar profesionales preparados tanto para la atención inmediata como para el desarrollo académico y la especialización.
Conocer salidas profesionales y empleabilidad real: cada titulación ofrece un abanico de empleabilidad propio, con alta inserción laboral en la FP y múltiples especialidades en la universidad. Por ello, consultar fuentes oficiales, portales de empleo o experiencias de antiguos alumnos ayuda a visualizar mejor las oportunidades y los pasos de progresión en el sector.
Tener en cuenta la vocación y el compromiso personal: en salud, tanto la FP como la universidad requieren dedicación y espíritu de servicio. Ante esta situación, es fundamental identificar la verdadera motivación para afrontar con éxito cualquiera de los dos itinerarios.
Valorar la innovación y la tecnología en la formación: la digitalización, la simulación clínica o las técnicas de imagen avanzada forman ya parte de la preparación sanitaria. En este sentido, conocer qué centros integran estas herramientas marca la diferencia en la experiencia de aprendizaje y en la preparación para la práctica real.
Por todo lo comentado anteriormente, Sanitas apuesta por la educación en salud a través de dos proyectos. Por un lado, Sanitas Campus FP, con sedes en Madrid y Barcelona, donde se imparten ciclos formativos como Técnico en Cuidados Auxiliares de Enfermería, Técnico Superior en Higiene Bucodental, Técnico Superior en Imagen para el Diagnóstico y Medicina Nuclear y Técnico en Atención a Personas en Situación de Dependencia.
Por otro, la colaboración con la Universidad Europea, formando conjuntamente a futuros médicos, odontólogos y enfermeras en hospitales y centros médicos de Sanitas, donde sus propios profesionales participan como docentes.
