Cabe recordar que a partir de este año los errores ortográficos, gramaticales y de coherencia podrán restar hasta un 10% en los ejercicios escritos de la nueva Prueba de Acceso a la Universidad.

En este contexto digital de mensajes abreviados, emojis y audios, la ortografía ha quedado, en muchos casos, en segundo plano. Y sus consecuencias ya se hacen visibles: errores frecuentes al redactar, dificultades para organizar las ideas e inseguridad a la hora de enfrentarse a una hoja en blanco. Todo ello en un momento clave, el acceso a la universidad, que este año además da un giro importante, en el que se homogenizará en todo el territorio la penalización que tendrán los fallos que se realicen en las distintas pruebas de la Prueba de Acceso a la Universidad (PAU). De esta manera, lo que antes parecía un descuido, ahora puede marcar la diferencia entre acceder o no a la carrera deseada.

Más de 300.000 estudiantes se preparan este junio para examinarse en estas pruebas su acceso a la universidad, que incorporan por primera vez un criterio común de corrección que evaluará de forma específica y cuantificable aspectos como ortografía, gramática y coherencia textual en todos los ejercicios que requieran redacción. Un error de concordancia, una tilde olvidada o una construcción mal planteada podrán restar hasta un 10 % de la nota en cualquier ejercicio redactado y hasta un 20 % en los exámenes de lengua.

Desde la editorial RUBIO, con amplia experiencia en materiales didácticos para el desarrollo de competencias básicas como la escritura, advierten que esta medida llega en un momento complejo, y no por falta de conocimientos, sino por la pérdida progresiva del hábito de escribir con corrección.

Cada vez escribimos menos y, cuando lo hacemos, delegamos la revisión en correctores automáticos. Esto afecta directamente la forma en que los estudiantes construyen el lenguaje y se expresan. La caída del uso del papel en las etapas escolares, el predominio de las pantallas, la disminución de la lectura y el uso creciente del lenguaje digital abreviado, también en contextos formales, contribuyen a esta situación. El resultado es una generación creativa y conectada, pero con poca seguridad a la hora de escribir correctamente, de hecho, una reciente prueba de nivel ortográfico ha revelado que los menores de 20 años obtienen peores resultados que los adultos: mientras que los mayores de 50 alcanzan una media de Notable, los más jóvenes apenas llegan al Bien*. Un dato que refleja no solo una carencia académica, sino un cambio profundo en los hábitos de comunicación y aprendizaje.

Errores ortográficos más frecuentes: un obstáculo común en los exámenes

Detectar los errores más comunes es el primer paso para corregirlos. Por eso, los psicopedagogos de RUBIO refrescan algunos de los fallos ortográficos que suelen colarse incluso en contextos formales como los exámenes:

  1. “A ver” y “haber”: un clásico que sigue dando guerra. Una cosa es querer comprobar algo (a ver) y otra, que haya algo que hacer (haber). No es lo mismo decir “A ver qué pasa” que “Tiene que haber una solución”. ¿Un truco? Prueba a cambiarlo por “veamos”.
  1. “Hay”, “ahí” y “ay”: un trio que siempre se confunde. “Hay” es lo que hay, así de simple: “Hay tarea para mañana”. “Ahí” señala un sitio: “Deja la mochila ahí” y “Ay” suelta emoción: sorpresa, susto o risa.
  1. “Echar” y la trampa de la H. Una de las faltas más frecuentes es escribir “hechar” con hache cuando en realidad, el verbo echar nunca la lleva. Lo correcto es: “Voy a echar un vistazo” o “Te echo de menos”. Fácil de recordar si pensamos que, en este caso, lo primero que echamos es la H.
  1. “Llendo” no existe… aunque se oiga mucho. El gerundio del verbo ir se escribe siempre con Y: yendo. “Estoy yendo al médico” es la forma correcta. No hay más reglas, simplemente “llendo” no forma parte del idioma.
  1. “Valla” y “vaya”: no es lo mismo tropezar con una valla que con un “vaya” mal usado. La primera es una cerca, la segunda puede ser del verbo ir o una exclamación. “¡Vaya lío!” si no las distingues…
  1. “Porque”, “por qué”, “porqué” y “por que”: el lío de los porqués. Aunque suenan igual, no se usan igual. “Porque” (junto y sin tilde) es la respuesta (“Voy porque quiero”). “Por qué” (separado y con tilde) es la pregunta (“¿Por qué te fuiste?”). “El porqué” (junto y con tilde) es el motivo (“No entiendo el porqué”) y “por que” (separado y sin tilde) se usa en estructuras más complejas (“Luchamos por que se haga justicia”).
  1. “Halla”, “haya”, “allá” y “aya”: “Halla” es encontrar (“Halla las cinco diferencias”), “Haya” puede ser un árbol o del verbo haber (“Espero que haya suerte”), “Allá” indica lugar (“Allá en la montaña”) y “aya”… sí, también existe: es quien cuida a los niños.
  1. “Si no” y “Sino”: cuando va junto se usa para contraponer: “No estudia, sino que trabaja”.  Cuando va separado plantea una condición: “Si no estudias, suspendes”. ¿Un truco? Si puedes meter un “entonces” en la frase, van separadas: “Si no estudias, entonces suspendes”.

Y, por supuesto, hacen hincapié en la importancia de repasar los exámenes antes de entregar, para revisar especialmente la acentuación y puntuación, así como tirar de sinónimos si la grafía de alguna palabra genera dudas durante la prueba.

Fortalecer la ortografía desde la infancia: el compromiso de RUBIO

Los expertos psicopedagogos de la editorial recuerdan que la preparación para estas exigencias no puede comenzar en Bachillerato, sino que hay que reforzarlas mucho antes. Escribir bien es el resultado de años de práctica, lectura y atención al lenguaje, y si queremos que nuestros hijos lleguen a la universidad con seguridad y autonomía, debemos ayudarles a construir esa base desde la infancia. 

Por ello proponen algunas claves:

  • Recuperar el valor de escribir a mano. Escribir con lápiz y papel mejora la atención, favorece la memoria y ayuda a detectar errores con más facilidad. Incluir este hábito en la rutina desde etapas escolares iniciales es una forma sencilla y eficaz de fortalecer la escritura y la conciencia ortográfica.
  • Equilibrar el uso de pantallas y papel. La tecnología forma parte del día a día, pero también es importante reservar espacios para lo analógico. Alternar momentos digitales con actividades manuales favorece la reflexión y la corrección lingüística.
  • Fomentar la lectura regular y variada. Los buenos escritores suelen ser grandes lectores. Leer cuentos, cómics, novelas o revistas adaptadas a cada edad expone a los niños y adolescentes a estructuras lingüísticas correctas, enriquece su vocabulario y les muestra distintas formas de narrar.
  • Contar con materiales adecuados a cada etapa educativa. Cada edad tiene sus propias necesidades.

Prepararse para la nueva PAU no es solo memorizar datos o fórmulas, sino saber comunicar con claridad y corrección. Para eso, es indispensable una base sólida construida desde la infancia, que permita a los jóvenes expresarse con confianza y seguridad.
