  • El acuerdo refuerza la investigación, formación y transferencia de conocimiento en el ámbito de la educación digital inclusiva gracias a la Cátedra Telefónica ProFuturo-UPSA ‘Analítica de datos en proyectos educativos en entornos vulnerables’ creada en 2018.
  • El hackatón internacional #hack4edu es uno de los proyectos surgidos en el marco de la colaboración entre las tres entidades.

Salamanca, 11 de septiembre de 2025.-  ProFuturo, el programa de innovación educativa con tecnología impulsado por Fundación Telefónica y la Fundación “la Caixa”, la Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca (UPSA) y la Red de Cátedras Telefónica han renovado en la jornada de hoy su convenio de colaboración, vigente desde 2018, afianzando así su compromiso conjunto para el análisis, la investigación y la promoción de la innovación educativa con tecnología  en el mundo, especialmente en los entornos vulnerables donde trabaja ProFuturo. 

El acto de renovación ha contado con la presencia de Magdalena Brier, directora general de ProFuturo; Beatriz Herranz, la directora general de Telefónica para Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha y Madrid; Santiago García-Jalón de la Lama, Rector de la Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca; Ana María Fermoso, vicerrectora de Investigación y Transferencia; Manuel Martín Merino, catedrático de Informática y director de la Cátedra, y Vidal Alonso Secades, decano de la Facultad de Informática, quienes han puesto en valor los logros alcanzados hasta la fecha y han reafirmado su voluntad de seguir avanzando en el desarrollo de acciones conjuntas en el marco de la Cátedra Telefónica ProFuturo-UPSA. Esta Cátedra, fruto del acuerdo entre ProFuturo, Telefónica y UPSA, se ha consolidado como un espacio referente de investigación, formación y transferencia de conocimiento en torno a la educación digital, con especial atención a los contextos vulnerables.

Fruto de esta colaboración ha nacido, entre otros, #hack4edu, el mayor hackatón educativo iberoamericano, que ha reunido desde 2020 a más de un millar de estudiantes de 12 países y 30 universidades para plantear y resolver retos tecnológicos relacionados con los desafíos de la educación digital y la IA en entornos vulnerables. 

El nuevo convenio refuerza el compromiso de las tres entidades en la generación de impacto social a través de la innovación educativa. Entre sus principales objetivos destacan el impulso de proyectos de investigación aplicada, la organización de seminarios y jornadas científicas, así como la producción de materiales y recursos formativos dirigidos a docentes y futuros profesionales de la educación. 

Durante el acto, los portavoces de ProFuturo, Telefónica y UPSA subrayaron la importancia de aunar esfuerzos para responder a los desafíos educativos del siglo XXI, especialmente en un contexto global marcado por la transformación digital acelerada. Magdalena Brier, directora general de ProFuturo, ha señalado que “la alianza con la UPSA, y con Cátedras Telefónica, nos permite avanzar en el desarrollo de soluciones educativas inclusivas y sostenibles, capaces de llegar a los niños y las niñas que más lo necesitan, para dotarlos de oportunidades de desarrollo para que puedan vivir una vida plena y digna, personal y profesionalmente”. 

Por su parte, el Rector de la Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca (UPSA), Santiago García-Jalón de la Lama, ha señalado que este convenio supone “un importante refuerzo de la investigación y la transferencia del conocimiento, enmarcado en las líneas estratégicas de la Universidad y la creación de cátedras como resultado de esta transferencia, que se manifiesta, entre otras acciones, en la estrecha colaboración con entidades referentes en esta materia como Profuturo, la Fundación Telefónica y la Fundación ‘la Caixa’”. 

Desde Telefónica, Beatriz Herranz, directora general para Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha y Madrid ha recalcado que “los trabajos desarrollados por ProFuturo, y por esta Cátedra, han aportado algunas lecciones valiosas sobre la aplicación de la educación digital en entornos vulnerables, por eso Telefónica y Fundación Telefónica están hoy aquí reforzando nuestro compromiso con UPSA”. 

Desde su creación, la Cátedra Telefónica ProFuturo-UPSA ha promovido la realización de investigaciones de impacto, publicaciones científicas y eventos formativos que han contribuido a la transformación de la escuela y el desarrollo profesional docente. Esta renovación permitirá dar continuidad a estas líneas de trabajo y abrir nuevas vías de colaboración para afrontar los retos emergentes en el ámbito de la educación y la tecnología. 

Con esta firma, ProFuturo, Telefónica y UPSA reiteran su apuesta por la excelencia, la innovación y la equidad en el acceso a una educación de calidad, adaptada a las necesidades del mundo actual y orientada a la construcción de sociedades más justas y sostenibles .
