  • Amrop publica el estudio El significado del trabajo en el que se analizan las diferentes motivaciones que regulan el entorno laboral, en función de la región del mundo, la edad, el género, la experiencia o la formación, entre otros aspectos.
  • Según la investigación, los profesionales de países como India, China o Brasil están más volcados con el trabajo y piensan menos en equilibrar la vida personal con la profesional, como ocurre en naciones occidentales como España, Francia o EE.UU.

Madrid, 28 de abril de 2025.- ¿Qué peso tiene hoy el trabajo en nuestras vidas? ¿Se valora igual en una economía consolidada que en una emergente? Estas son algunas de las cuestiones que responde el estudio El significado del trabajo , publicado por Amrop, firma líder mundial en búsqueda de ejecutivos y consultoría de liderazgo.

Este documento pone sobre la mesa una verdad incómoda: mientras que en Europa se lucha por preservar el equilibrio entre vida personal y profesional, en economías como la india, la china o la brasileña el trabajo sigue siendo un aspecto prioritario dentro de las aspiraciones vitales de las personas encuestadas.

La investigación, que analiza la percepción del trabajo en ocho países de referencia, revela que el 84% de los profesionales en India considera que tener una carrera exitosa es clave para llevar una buena vida, porcentaje que se sitúa en el 70% en Brasil y China. Sin embargo, en Francia, Alemania o Polonia esta cifra cae por debajo del 45%.

Estos datos evidencian que el trabajo ha perdido un gran peso como motivador en algunas economías occidentales. También en España, donde cada vez más se da prioridad a puestos laborales que permitan conciliar, por encima de la proyección profesional, un aspecto mucho más valorado en mercados como el indio o el chino.

“Nuestro país sigue la tendencia europea y de EE.UU., donde ganan importancia otros elementos de la vida, como la familia, la salud y el bienestar. No obstante, la variable del éxito profesional y financiero tiene también una gran presencia, aunque los porcentajes son notablemente menores que los registrados por los países emergentes”, comenta Óscar García-Velasco, socio director de Amrop España.

Más horas, menos queja

Otro aspecto destacado en el documento es que, a pesar de trabajar más horas, los profesionales de las regiones del Sur y de Asia oriental se declaran más satisfechos con su equilibrio vital. India, Brasil y China lideran el ranking de países donde la mayoría de sus profesionales considera que goza de un equilibrio saludable entre vida laboral y personal. Por el contrario, países como Francia, Alemania y Polonia no alcanzan el 50% de percepción positiva en este aspecto.

Además, mientras que en Europa crece la resistencia a jornadas que superen las 40 horas semanales, en India y China más del 40% de los encuestados está dispuesto a trabajar más tiempo si ello conlleva una mejora profesional o empresarial.

“No obstante, el verdadero debate no debería estar en la duración de la jornada, sino en la percepción de utilidad, progreso y propósito que genera el trabajo. Es un reto que las empresas deben plantearse, ya que los entornos donde operan son cada vez más exigentes, y para salir airosas deben contar con plantillas dispuestas a implicarse emocionalmente”, asegura García-Velasco.

El informe de Amrop recoge las apreciaciones de 8.000 trabajadores en activo de Brasil, China, Francia, Alemania, India, Polonia, EE.UU. y Reino Unido (1.000 encuestas por país). Los encuestados tienen, como mínimo, un título de licenciatura y se les ha diferenciado por edad y generación (Generación Z, entre 20 y 26 años; Jóvenes Millennials, entre 27-34; Millennials Mayores, entre 35-42; y Generación X, entre 43-60).
