Día mundial del gamer: los beneficios que los videojuegos aportan al desarrollo persona.

El próximo 29 de agosto se celebra el Día Mundial del Gamer (o del videojuego), haciendo honor a esta práctica cada vez más extendida y popular entre la población. Según los datos del Anuario de la Industria del Videojuego en España, el pasado 2024, más de 22 millones de personas en nuestro país admitieron que jugaban a videojuegos habitualmente. Lejos quedó el perfil de adolescente como único usuario de este hobby, pues actualmente la media de edad de los jugadores es de 31 años, de los cuales, además, las mujeres suponen más de la mitad de estos aficionados.

Y es que, con el tiempo se ha demostrado que, a diferencia de la idea que había hace años, el gaming tiene muchas ventajas en el desarrollo personal. Diversos estudios científicos avalan que jugar a videojuegos potencia la atención, la memoria y la coordinación, además de fomentar habilidades como la toma de decisiones rápidas, el trabajo en equipo o la gestión emocional. Sin olvidar el amplio abanico de posibilidades de empleo que proporciona. La escuela tecnológica digital Tokio School ofrece programas formativos especializados como el Curso de Entrenamiento y Coaching Deportivo en Esports o el curso de Diseño de Videojuegos, con el objetivo de preparar a profesionales en un sector que sigue creciendo a nivel mundial. La escuela, de hecho, es patrocinadora desde este 2025 del club de esports Zeta Gaming, y sus expertos han analizado cuáles son las ventajas que los esports y los videojuegos pueden aportar a sus jugadores.

  • Desarrollo cognitivo y mental: La práctica del gaming mejora la atención y concentración al animar a los jugadores a mantener el enfoque en una misma práctica durante largos periodos de tiempo. Además, ayudan al procesamiento rápido de la información (algunos juegos como League of Legends se han de tomar decisiones en milisegundos), además de mejorar la memoria y la multitarea a través de estrategias, posiciones de los rivales o la planificación de acciones de forma simultánea.
  • Mejora la coordinación y el tiempo de reacción. Los juegos de acción y shooters desarrollan la coordinación óculo-manual, los reflejos y la precisión motora, lo que se traslada en salud física y mental y también es aplicable a deportes físicos y tareas de alta precisión.
  • Resolución de problemas y trabajo en equipo: Los videojuegos ayudan a analizar situaciones complejas, evaluar riesgos y tomar decisiones en tiempo real, lo que aporta la capacidad de desarrollar habilidades estratégicas aplicables a la vida. Además, el juego en equipo, que se lleva a cabo en competiciones como los esports, aportan mejoras a la comunicación verbal, mejorando la capacidad de ser claros y concisos, así como la colaboración y coordinación, lo cual es muy equiparable a un entorno laboral del ámbito empresarial.
  • Gestión emocional y desarrollo social: Aprender a gestionar la frustración, aceptar la derrota y mantener la motivación son clave. El gaming fomenta la resiliencia y la capacidad de aprendizaje, así como la mentalidad de mejora constante. En cuanto al ámbito social, esta práctica también crea comunidades que favorecen la interacción intercultural. Iván Argelaguet, Social Media Manager de Zeta Gaming, equipo de esports colaborador de Tokio School, afirma “En muchos casos, los videojuegos se convierten en una vía de socialización positiva para jóvenes que quizás no encajan en entornos más convencionales.”
  • Potencial profesional. El mundo gamer ha escalado hasta profesionalizarse. En la actualidad, las carreras en los esports, aportan multitud de puestos de empleo (desde jugadores profesionales a coach, caster, analistas o marketing…), además de puestos de la especialización en Universidades y centros de formación.


El gaming, un proyecto de futuro

La industria del videojuego sigue creciendo en audiencias, inversión y profesionalización. Cada vez más marcas y sectores se interesan por el gaming no solo como entretenimiento, sino como fenómeno cultural y vehículo de comunicación. Rubén Carretón, profesor del curso de Diseño de Videojuegos de Tokio School, admite “Hay mucho futuro por delante. La fiebre de los esports ha llegado para quedarse, y es solo cuestión de ver la relación entre los videojuegos y el aprendizaje para valorar el futuro que puede tener esta práctica”.
