Cinesa reduce un 9% su consumo de energía en 2024.
ODEON Cinemas Group, matriz de Cinesa, ha puesto en marcha diversas iniciativas dirigidas al ahorro energético, además de una reducción de las emisiones de gases efecto invernadero y dióxido de carbono.
Entre estos proyectos destaca la instalación en España de 9 proyectores láser en 2025 para reforzar el desarrollo sostenible de la compañía.
Cinesa cuenta ya con energía 100% renovable en todo su circuito cinematográfico gracias a su acuerdo con Iberdrola. También se están desarrollando proyectos de instalación de paneles solares en las cubiertas de sus cines.
Barcelona, 29 de mayo de 2025 – En su esfuerzo por contribuir a un futuro más sostenible, Cinesa, compañía líder en exhibición cinematográfica en España, redujo en un 9% su consumo de energía en 2024 respecto al año anterior, a pesar de que incrementó el número de sesiones y espectadores.
Este hito forma parte de una serie de iniciativas globales de ODEON Cinemas Group, matriz de Cinesa, centradas en conseguir un menor consumo de energía y la reducción de emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero (GEI) y dióxido de carbono (CO2). El plan incluye la primera medición exhaustiva de emisiones del grupo, que permitirá identificar puntos críticos de reducción de la huella de carbono y otras áreas clave para una acción futura. En la misma línea, se implementará una plataforma ESG (Environmental Social Governance) en línea pensada para facilitar este proceso, promoviendo una estrategia de adquisición de proveedores sostenible y el compromiso con proveedores para reducir las emisiones de la cadena de suministro.
Para asegurar la continuidad de buenos resultados, la compañía también ha introducido la iniciativa ‘Power Protectors’, diseñada para empoderar a su personal en la toma de acciones efectivas para la reducción de energía. Esto se complementa con la creación de cuadros de mando y herramientas de monitoreo dinámico del rendimiento energético a nivel del cine, junto con informes mensuales y trimestrales para los equipos superiores.
En línea con su objetivo de ahorro de energía, en España, Cinesa prevé instalar además 9 proyectores láser en sus cines durante 2025, habiendo instalado 12 en 2024. Estos dispositivos, que emplean menos energía para su uso, también requieren menos mantenimiento, proporcionan una mayor consistencia de brillo, incrementan el contraste en las imágenes y generan menos calor respecto a los proyectores de xenón.
Cinesa: energía renovable en todos sus cines
En España también se están desarrollando proyectos que buscan cuidar el planeta a través del ahorro de energía. El ahorro obtenido en los cines de España ha supuesto el ahorro de 354 toneladas de CO2 en la atmosfera, lo que equivaldría al CO2 absorbido por 16.074 árboles. En este sentido, gracias a un acuerdo con Iberdrola, todo el circuito de la compañía líder en exhibición cinematográfica en el país cuenta ya con energía 100% renovable. A tres años vista, esta colaboración evitará la emisión de 13.050 toneladas de CO2, equivalente a la capacidad de absorción de un bosque de 593.182 árboles. Esta alianza refuerza el compromiso de ambas entidades con la sostenibilidad ambiental, ofreciendo a los espectadores la posibilidad de disfrutar de películas con la mejor tecnología en un entorno más ecológico.
Además, se están desarrollando proyectos de instalación de paneles solares en las cubiertas de las instalaciones de Cinesa, así como la adquisición de energía renovable para asegurar un suministro más limpio y sostenible. Para optimizar aún más el consumo de energía, el grupo está implementando un proyecto de Sistema de Gestión de Edificios o Building Management System (BMS).

De poco sirve que se produzcan avances en un área determinada, como el ahorro de energía, si no se progresa paralelamente en la reducción de emisiones en otras áreas del negocio. Es por ello que planteamos nuestra estrategia de forma global, siempre con la misión de ofrecer experiencias cinematográficas excepcionales que respeten el medio ambiente”.
En línea con su compromiso con la sostenibilidad, el Grupo ODEON también está explorando la introducción de características más sostenibles en eventos B2B. Estas iniciativas reflejan el compromiso del grupo con la innovación y la responsabilidad medioambiental, asegurando que el entretenimiento cinematográfico no solo sea una fuente de disfrute, sino también un motor de cambio hacia un mundo más sostenible.
