Barcelona se consolida como uno de los principales polos turísticos de Europa, atrayendo a más de 12 millones de visitantes internacionales al año y generando miles de oportunidades laborales en el sector hotelero y gastronómico. Sin embargo, la alta rotación de personal y la dificultad para encontrar talento cualificado han llevado a las empresas a reforzar sus estrategias de captación de jóvenes profesionales, impulsando los programas de prácticas como una solución clave​.

Actualmente, el turismo representa más del 14% del PIB de Cataluña, y solo en Barcelona hay más de 1.600 hoteles, 9.000 restaurantes y cientos de agencias de viajes que requieren personal formado y motivado para atender la creciente demanda del sector. Sin embargo, la falta de personal cualificado se ha convertido en un desafío para muchas empresas, especialmente en áreas clave como la recepción hotelera, la restauración y la gestión de eventos​.
