- El 1er Barómetro de Liderazgo Femenino Español en el Exterior, elaborado por el Club de Ejecutivas Españolas en el Exterior, único colectivo de directivas fuera de España, revela que nuestro país cuenta con una reserva única de talento femenino de alto nivel fuera de nuestras fronteras.
- Este colectivo se estima en alrededor de 1.000 altas directivas y mujeres referentes en sus campos, quehan desarrollado sus carreras en el exterior y que, a pesar de la distancia, siguen guardado la conexión con sus raíces y están dispuestas a aportar a España.
- Sin embargo, esta reserva de talento senior permanece en gran medida invisible para empresas e instituciones nacionales, lo que supone una pérdida de oportunidad en un contexto de guerra global por el talento.
- El Club ha entregado los Premios a la Excelencia Femenina en el Exterior a Belén Garijo, presidenta del Consejo y CEO de la farmacéutica Merck en Alemania, y a Eva Nogales, catedrática de Biología Molecular en Berkeley (California).
. Las altas directivas y referentes españolas que trabajan en el extranjero, que se han reunido por primera vez en Madrid, consideran que pueden ser un activo de gran valor para España. Así lo revela el Barómetro de Liderazgo Femenino Español en el Exterior, elaborado por el Club de Ejecutivas Españolas en el Exterior y presentado hoy en el transcurso de su primer encuentro mundial, que ha reunido a más de un centenar de españolas procedentes de Reino Unido, Francia, Estados Unidos, Dubái, Singapur y otros países en la sede del IE University. El estudio constata que España cuenta con una reserva de talento femenino directivo de alto nivel, que permanece en gran medida invisible para empresas e instituciones nacionales. Actualmente, se trata de más de 240 españolas con trayectorias internacionales consolidadas, formadas en España y con una media de 26 años de experiencia profesional en sectores clave de futuro como tecnología, energía, finanzas, industria, ciencias, docencia o medicina. No obstante, se estima en más de 1.000 el número de altas directivas y referentes españolas desarrollando su carrera en el exterior. Un eje estratégico del Club es dar visibilidad a este talento y conectarlas en cada país y a nivel mundial para apoyarse mutuamente.
Asimismo, el Barómetro dibuja el perfil de un talento senior altamente cualificado, con experiencia en dos o más países, dominio de idiomas y una sólida carrera construida fuera de España por una apuesta profesional, no por una huida ni por necesidad. El 84% de estas profesionales ocupa actualmente puestos de alta dirección y ha desarrollado su carrera en entornos internacionales complejos, liderando equipos diversos y gestionando procesos de transformación, innovación y crecimiento. Su conocimiento global y su red de contactos son un activo estratégico para empresas, instituciones y universidades españolas. Están dispuestas a contribuir a la competitividad y la internacionalización de España desde sus países o regresando.
El Barómetro subraya que no es imprescindible que estas profesionales regresen físicamente a España para que el país aproveche su experiencia y su capital internacional. Muchas de ellas están dispuestas a contribuir desde sus países de residencia, gracias a modelos de colaboración híbridos y al uso de tecnologías digitales. Entre los roles que pueden desempeñar se encuentran los de consejeras independientes, asesoras estratégicas, embajadoras económicas para la apertura de mercados, mentoras de equipos directivos, ponentes y docentes en universidades y escuelas de negocios. Y aquellas que valoran un eventual regreso, en muchos casos, lo conciben como una “segunda carrera” orientada a funciones de consejo, asesoría y transformación empresarial, más que a posiciones ejecutivas puramente operativas.
Pero, pese a su posicionamiento profesional, el Barómetro identifica una barrera estructural que limita la contribución de este colectivo a España: la falta de conexión con las redes profesionales y el mercado directivo local. Las directivas señalan que el principal obstáculo no es únicamente la brecha salarial, sino el acceso al denominado “mercado oculto” de oportunidades, así como la falta de visibilidad y de canales formales de relación con empresas, instituciones y organizaciones españolas. El informe concluye que las mujeres ejecutivas españolas en el extranjero están dispuestas a aportar su visión estratégica internacional y sus redes, por lo que España debe facilitar la implementación de canales de acceso, alianzas y medidas de retorno para capitalizar este potencial y que tenga un impacto en términos de competitividad, internacionalización y buen gobierno.
El Barómetro ofrece propuestas para convertir ese talento femenino español en el exterior en una ventaja competitiva. Para activarlo, se propone un Plan Acción concreto y trabajar en cuatro ejes: incorporando perfiles internacionales en consejos de administración de grandes empresas y proyectos público-privados; apoyar la internacionalización de empresas e instituciones españolas mediante una red de embajadoras y programas de mentoring; impulsar la transferencia de conocimiento a través de alianzas educativas con universidades y escuelas de negocios, y facilitar el retorno del talento sénior con incentivos fiscales, apoyo al aterrizaje y soluciones para la doble carrera.
El Club de Ejecutivas Españolas en el Exterior propone la creación de una mesa público-privada que, a partir de las conclusiones del Barómetro, defina las acciones específicas para identificar, conectar y atraer a directivas y referentes españolas en el exterior en los próximos cinco años.
Para elaborar el Barómetro se han realizado 153 encuestas a ejecutivas españolas que ocupan posiciones de alta dirección y referentes en distintos países y sectores, con el objetivo de analizar su trayectoria, barreras, motivaciones y potencial de contribución a España.
Ventaja competitiva
El evento ha sido inaugurado por la presidenta fundadora del Club, Silvia Arto, quien ha destacado que “la mujer española que triunfa fuera de España inspira y proyecta una excelente imagen de nuestra cultura y país”. A lo que ha añadido que “el objetivo de nuestra red global, que es única en el mundo, es dar a conocer y conectar a esas españolas altamente cualificadas, que se desconocen porque están fuera de nuestras fronteras, y que puedan ser una ventaja competitiva para las empresas e instituciones españolas”.
Respecto a sus perfiles, ha señalado que “son mujeres fuertes y luchadoras que han mostrado capacidad de adaptación, resiliencia y de movilización de equipos, cualidades claves para liderar en tiempos complejos como los actuales. Si a esto añadimos sus conocimientos técnicos en los sectores donde lideran, sus contactos y accesos de alto nivel, suponen una ventaja competitiva para la diversidad e internacionalización de los consejos de administración y otras instancias directivas de sectores empresariales, académicos y científicos”. “Por eso proponemos a empresas y Administraciones que abran una autopista de visibilidad y de regreso para estas profesionales: procesos de selección específicos, incentivos al retorno y reconocimiento explícito del liderazgo femenino internacional en los órganos de decisión”, ha añadido.
También ha intervenido María Dolores Dancausa, presidenta de Bankinter, quien ha afirmado que “las mujeres directivas españolas que ejercen su función en el exterior constituyen un inmenso activo de conocimientos y talento que la sociedad española ha de valorar como corresponde”.
Premios a la Excelencia Femenina
En la última parte de la jornada se han otorgado los Premios a la Excelencia Femenina en el Exterior del Club.
Belén Garijo, presidenta del Consejo y CEO de la farmacéutica Merck en Alemania, donde ha desarrollado la mayoría de su carrera -y primera mujer en liderar una empresa del DAX 30-, lo ha recibido de manos de Ángeles García-Poveda, presidenta de Legrand, empresa cotizada en el C40, basada en Francia. Belén ha mostrado su agradecimiento por el reconocimiento, al tiempo que ha dado la enhorabuena al Club “por la excelente idea de esta red de ejecutivas españolas en el exterior. Desde aquí tenemos la oportunidad de concienciar y concienciarnos de la importancia del networking. No se trata de dejarte ver. Se trata de darte a conocer por tu talento, tus méritos y tus aspiraciones”.
A Eva Nogales, catedrática de Biología Molecular en Berkeley (California), miembro de la Royal Society y ganadora del Premio Shaw, basada en Silicon Valley, se lo ha entregado Ana Crespo, presidenta de la Real Academia Española de Ciencias. Eva Nogales ha dicho que “es un verdadero honor recibir este reconocimiento, y un privilegio formar parte de este club, que nos permite compartir experiencias e inquietudes dentro de una red de mujeres brillantes, rompedoras y valientes. Son una inspiración, y conocerlas me hace tener más fe en el futuro. Con muchas ganas de seguir trabajando para promover y poner de relieve el talento de las españolas en el extranjero”.
