 El joven emprendedor de 25 años Mateo Salvatto ha sido uno de los protagonistas de la mañana. Para el fundador de Asteroid Technologies, “el momento de apostar por la accesibilidad es ahora. No solo por un compromiso social, sino porque representa una enorme oportunidad de negocio”.

 La segunda jornada del encuentro ha estado marcada también por la participación de Marci Zaroff, pionera en moda sostenible y CEO de EcoFashion Corp, quien ha advertido que “el 70 % del impacto ambiental y humano ocurre en la etapa de fibras y materiales, lo que refuerza la urgencia de repensar el modelo de producción desde su origen«.

 El encuentro, coorganizado por IE University y que se celebra hasta mañana viernes 6 de junio, está reuniendo en Madrid a los actores más importantes del ecosistema emprendedor, entre los que destacan más de 600 ponentes, 150 inversores y 19 unicornios.

 South Summit Madrid 2025 cuenta con el apoyo institucional de la Secretaría de Estado de Digitalización e Inteligencia Artificial, la Comunidad de Madrid y el Ayuntamiento de Madrid, así como de Mutua Madrileña, Google for Startups, BBVA Spark, Wayra – Telefónica Innovation y BStartup de Banco Sabadell.

Madrid, 5 de junio de 2025.South Summit Madrid 2025 , ha celebrado hoy la segunda jornada de su decimocuarta edición en Madrid, co-organizada por IE University . Durante la mañana, ha destacado la participación de Mateo Salvatto, un joven emprendedor argentino de 25 años que, con tan solo 18 fundó la startup Asteroid Technologies, cuyo primer producto, ‘Háblalo’, asiste a más de 400.000 personas con discapacidad comunicativa en todo el mundo, de forma totalmente gratuita.

Salvatto, que fue reconocido como ‘Global Entrepreneur of the Year 2023’ por la organización One Young World, ha destacado que “el momento de apostar por la accesibilidad es ahora. No solo por un compromiso social, sino porque representa una enorme oportunidad de negocio. Más de 1.000 millones de personas en el mundo tienen algún tipo de discapacidad, y más de 500 millones de ellas tienen dificultades para comunicarse. No se trata de ver la inclusión como un gesto altruista, sino como una decisión estratégica”. 

Salvatto no ha sido el único representante de la innovación aplicada a la ayuda a los demás en #SouthSummit25. Grupo Social ONCE ha vuelto a apostar por el encuentro para reunir, en torno a la mesa redonda ‘Scaling Impact by Grupo Social ONCE’, a diversas voces para reflexionar sobre la sostenibilidad de los negocios con propósito. Durante su intervención, Alberto Durán, vicepresidente del Grupo Social ONCE, ha destacado que South Summit representa un punto de encuentro clave para quienes creen en una innovación centrada en las personas, “en nuestro caso, en las personas con discapacidad y las personas mayores”. Durán también ha recordado que en 2024 el Grupo Social ONCE generó cerca de 14.000 empleos y plazas ocupacionales para personas con discapacidad —el 44,4% mujeres—, consolidándose como el primer empleador mundial de este colectivo. “Nuestro objetivo es promover modelos empresariales sostenibles y lograr que la tecnología y la innovación sirvan a la inclusión para todas las personas”, ha afirmado.

En la mesa redonda también ha participado María Benjumea, presidenta y fundadora de South Summit, quien ha respaldado esta visión al señalar que “el futuro del emprendimiento pasa por soluciones que generen impacto real y escalable”. Por su parte, el secretario general de Red.es, David Francisco Blanco, ha valorado positivamente la labor del Grupo Social ONCE y su contribución al ecosistema innovador como “referente de cómo los modelos inclusivos pueden integrarse en estrategias empresariales competitivas”. En la misma línea, Ángela Pérez, CEO de COFIDES, ha subrayado que “apostar por el impacto no es solo una cuestión de responsabilidad, sino también de visión y oportunidad empresarial”.

Sostenibilidad aplicada al sector de la moda, en #SouthSummit25

La sostenibilidad ha vuelto a ocupar un lugar central en #SouthSummit25, en este caso aplicada al sector de la moda. Marci Zaroff, CEO y fundadora de EcoFashion y pionera en este ámbito, ha subrayado esta mañana el papel clave que juega hoy la comunicación en la transformación del consumo: “La sostenibilidad ha cambiado porque ahora podemos contar historias. Durante años era difícil movilizar a los consumidores, pero hoy podemos crear contenido para concienciar sobre datos muy alarmantes”. En ese sentido, Zaroff ha recordado que «la industria de la moda es responsable del 20% de la contaminación de agua dulce a nivel global y entre el 8% y el 10% de las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero«. Además, ha advertido que “el 70% del impacto ambiental y humano ocurre en la etapa de fibras y materiales, lo que refuerza la urgencia de repensar el modelo de producción desde su origen«.

Brasil y España refuerzan lazos para impulsar ecosistemas de innovación

Las conexiones entre los ecosistemas emprendedores de Brasil y España han sido también protagonistas de la mañana. En la sesión ‘Cross-Border Innovation: Brazil and Spain in Collaboration’, José Renato Hopf, presidente de South Summit Brazil, y Luiz Carlos Pinto da Silva Filho, secretario de Innovación de la ciudad de Porto Alegre, han coincidido en la importancia de crear puentes que favorezcan el crecimiento de startups y nuevos talentos a ambos lados del Atlántico.

“Queremos ayudar a los emprendedores desde el principio, generar oportunidades reales para que puedan crecer y consolidarse”, ha subrayado Hopf. El responsable de la edición brasileña del encuentro ha celebrado la conexión cada vez más sólida entre ambos territorios y destacado “el papel que juega España como puerta de entrada para los proyectos latinoamericanos al mercado europeo”.

Por su parte, Luiz Carlos Pinto da Silva Filho ha querido subrayar “el legado positivo que dejó la candidatura olímpica en Porto Alegre. La ciudad se presenta hoy como un polo emergente de emprendimiento en América Latina, con una estrategia clara para atraer inversión, fomentar la tecnología y generar un entorno propicio para el crecimiento empresarial junto a países como España”.

El encuentro continúa esta tarde con la participación destacada de Marc Randolph, cofundador de Netflix; Irene Gálvez, responsable de la división de Cleantech Growth Capital del Banco Europeo de Inversiones, o Pedro Condrade, fundador del unicornio brasileño Neón.
