El absentismo laboral crece tres décimas en el último año y se sitúa en el 6,6%.

  • Más de 1,47 millones de empleados faltan cada día a su puesto de trabajo, de los cuales un 21,2% no cuenta con una incapacidad temporal por razones médicas.
  • La industria concentra el mayor absentismo, con el 7,2% de las horas pactadas; le siguen los servicios (6,6%) y la construcción (5,7%)
  • Por actividades, el mayor absentismo se produce en Actividades postales y de correos (11%), Servicios a edificios y jardinería (11%), mientras que el menor se da en tareas relacionadas con el empleo (3,1%) y Actividades jurídicas y de contabilidad (3,1%) 
  • Por comunidades autónomas, el mayor absentismo se ha dado en Murcia (9,2%), Canarias (8,5%) y Cantabria (8,2%), mientras que el menor ha sido en Comunidad de Madrid (5,7%), Baleares (5,9%) y La Rioja (6%)

Madrid, 30 de diciembre de 2025.- Randstad Research, el centro de estudios de Randstad, la empresa de talento líder en España y en el mundo, presenta el Informe de absentismo del tercer trimestre de 2025, el cual destaca que los niveles de absentismo de los empleados en sus puestos de trabajo han repuntado ligeramente durante el último ejercicio analizado y, un trimestre más, se mantienen en tasas elevadas.

Concretamente, el nivel de absentismo se situó en el tercer trimestre de este año en el 6,6% de las horas pactadas, lo que representa un repunte de tres décimas respecto a los datos registrados un año antes. En el caso del absentismo por incapacidad temporal (IT) o con baja médica, la tasa del tercer trimestre fue del 5,2%, dos décimas superiores a la contabilizada en el segundo trimestre del año anterior, según el informe elaborado por Randstad Research con datos de la Encuesta Trimestral de Costes Laborales del Instituto Nacional de Estadística.

Se puede realizar una aproximación del volumen de trabajadores que se ausenta de su puesto de trabajo si se tiene en cuenta que en el tercer trimestre del año el número de ocupados según la EPA ascendía a 22,39 millones de personas. Así, los niveles de absentismo apuntados suponen que 1.477.549 personas no acudieron a su puesto de trabajo de promedio diario, de los cuales 1.164.129 se encontraban de baja médica. Es decir, algo más de 313.400 personas se ausentaron cada día de su puesto de trabajo por razones distintas a una baja médica a lo largo del primer trimestre de 2025, un 21,2% del total de personas que no fueron a trabajar.

El absentismo laboral sigue estancado en niveles altos, lo que lo convierte en un problema serio para las empresas españolas, afectando directamente a su productividad y costes, y perjudicando también su competitividad. La reducción observada en el tercer trimestre no debe invitar al optimismo, se debe a factores estacionales y en el cuarto trimestre del año volverá a subir, sin ninguna duda”, señala Valentín Bote, director de Randstad Research.

La industria, a la cabeza en absentismo

Entre los tres grandes sectores económicos, en el tercer trimestre de 2025, la industria es el que concentra un mayor absentismo, con el 7,2% del total de las horas pactadas, seguido del sector servicios, con el 6,6%, y en tercer lugar la construcción, con un 5,7%. En el análisis del absentismo por IT, los datos varían desde el 5,6% en la industria, el 5,2% en los servicios y el 4,7% en la construcción. 

El análisis más detallado por actividades expone una diferencia pronunciada, ya que mientras que en algunas los niveles son reducidos otras cuentan con un gran número de horas laborales perdidas. 

Así, las actividades que presentan un mayor absentismo son Actividades postales y de correos (11%), Servicios a edificios y jardinería (11%), Actividades de juegos de azar y apuestas (10,6%) y Actividades de servicios sociales sin alojamiento (10,5%). Por el contrario, las actividades con menor absentismo son Actividades relacionadas con el empleo (3,1%), Actividades jurídicas y de contabilidad (3,1%), Programación, consultoría y actividades relacionadas con la informática (3,3%) y Edición (3,3%).

Murcia y Canarias, las comunidades con más absentismo

Por comunidades autónomas, Murcia y Canarias son las que registran un mayor absentismo en el tercer trimestre de 2025, con un 9,2% y 8,5%, respectivamente. Tras estas dos comunidades, se sitúan Cantabria (8,2%), Galicia (8%) y País Vasco (7,9%), todas ellas muy por encima de la media del conjunto del mercado laboral. Los menores niveles de absentismo se dieron en Comunidad de Madrid (5,7%), Baleares (5,9%), La Rioja (6%) Castilla-La Mancha (6,1%) y Andalucía (6,3%).

Las comunidades autónomas donde más ha aumentado el absentismo han sido Murcia, con 2 puntos; Cantabria, con 1,2 puntos; Asturias, con 0,5 puntos, y Canarias y Galicia, ambas con un alza de 0,4 puntos. Solo una comunidad autónoma ha registrado un descenso del absentismo: La Rioja, de seis décimas, hasta el 6%. Por su parte, Castilla-La Mancha (6,1%) y Castilla y León (6,6%) no han registrado variaciones en los niveles de absentismo.
