ISS ha retirado más de 400 m2 de amianto en distintas provincias de España para garantizar entornos más seguros y saludables.
- La normativa europea y española regula la retirada del amianto en todo tipo de instalaciones, puesto que se trata de un material de construcción altamente peligroso y cancerígeno.
- Además de ayudar a los clientes a cumplir con la normativa, esta iniciativa permite proteger la salud de las personas y contribuir a la creación de entornos más seguros y sostenibles.
El amianto, también conocido como fibrocemento o uralita, ha sido durante décadas un material muy utilizado en la construcción por su bajo coste y su capacidad aislante. Sin embargo, estudios científicos han demostrado que exposiciones prolongadas y sobre todo su manipulación representan un grave riesgo para la salud de las personas. Las fibras microscópicas que desprende este componente al deteriorarse o al ser manipuladas pueden alojarse en los pulmones y provocar enfermedades como la asbestosis, mesotelioma o cáncer de pulmón. Debido a su alta peligrosidad, la Unión Europea y la legislación española han establecido normas muy estrictas para su gestión y eliminación, fijando plazos máximos para su retirada definitiva.
En este contexto, ISS, empresa líder en integración de servicios, tales como mantenimiento, limpieza, workplace y Facility Management, ofrece el servicio de retirada y transporte seguro de amianto en empresas. Hasta la fecha ha gestionado la retirada de más de 400 m² de fibrocemento en más de 20 emplazamientos de diferentes provincias españolas, garantizando la total seguridad en cada fase del proceso.
Este proyecto ha permitido cumplir con las obligaciones legales establecidas por la Ley 7/2022, de 8 de abril, que exige retirar todos los materiales con amianto antes del año 2032, y por el Real Decreto 396/2006, que regula los trabajos con riesgo de exposición al mineral.
ISS garantiza la retirada del amianto con medios técnicos y humanos especializados, a través de partners autorizados para la gestión de residuos con contenido de amianto; aportando a los clientes un proceso de gestión simplificada con ahorro de tiempo y costes.
“Este procedimiento constituye un compromiso ambiental y de seguridad y salud tangible y eficiente, pues elimina un material con efectos altamente peligrosos para el bienestar de las personas y contribuye a la creación de entornos más sostenibles y seguros”, ha señalado Ana Jimeno, directora de Calidad, Medioambiente y Prevención de Riesgos Laborales de ISS Iberia.
Este tipo de intervenciones también aportan beneficios desde el punto de vista inmobiliario, puesto que la modificación supone un aumento del valor de los activos, al cumplir con las normativas vigentes y ofrecer mayores condiciones de seguridad. Todo ello se traduce en una mayor satisfacción de los diferentes grupos de interés –personas empleadas, administraciones públicas, proveedores, socios y comunidades locales– y en la consolidación de una buena reputación corporativa para las empresas, al evitar sanciones.
